Field Notes on Love by Jennifer E. Smith Review

Image
Hey guys, Today I am happy to share that I will be reviewing Field Notes on Love by Jennifer E. Smith! Here's the synopsis from Goodreads to get a better idea of what the book is about: Having just been dumped by his girlfriend, British-born Hugo is still determined to take his last-hurrah-before-college train trip across the United States. One snag: the companion ticket is already booked under the name of his ex, Margaret Campbell. Nontransferable, no exceptions. Enter the new Margaret C. (Mae for short), an aspiring filmmaker with big dreams. After finding Hugo's spare ticket offer online, she's convinced it's the perfect opportunity to expand her horizons. When the two meet, the attraction is undeniable, and both find more than they bargained for. As Mae pushes Hugo to explore his dreams for his future, he'll encourage her to channel a new, vulnerable side of her art. But when life off the train threatens the bubble they've created for themselves, will they

Kisses and Croissants by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau Review

Image
Hi guys, Today I will be reviewing Kisses and Croissants by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau!  I've decided that this review is going to be short and sweet like the book so let's get right to it. I read this during my vacation and although it wasn't the most mind-blowing book I've read, I really really enjoyed it.  It centers around Mia, a passionate, teenage ballerina that isn't afraid to have fun while pursuing her dreams. You can tell she works tirelessly and that her world revolves around ballet. I only took ballet from the ages of 3-10 and have not done it for many years, Jouhanneau made it so you could still understand what was happening and the degree of difficulty that it was. I loved it being set in Paris and being taken around the city with Mia and Louis. The French that was thrown in throughout made me so happy and made me long to go to France to see my family. It was definitely an easy, light read but I still found myself eager to read more because of how much I

Again, but Better by Christine Riccio Review

Image
Hey guys, Today I am very excited to review my most recent read, Again, but Better by Christine Riccio! I honestly didn't know that I was going to love this book so much, but what should I have expected with a book written by a BookTuber that I have watched for years and have mostly enjoyed similar books to. Christine was actually the first BookTuber that I ever came across, way back when. I am so glad that I picked up this book. Now .ets get into the reasons why... Let's begin with what I saw from the beginning. Reading the inside flap of this book was an incredibly major call-out to me and my life. For reference, I'll put it here: Shane has been doing college all wrong. Pre-med, stellar grades, and happy parents…sounds ideal -- but Shane's made zero friends, goes home every weekend, and romance…what’s that? Her life has been dorm, dining hall, class, repeat. Time's a ticking, and she needs a change -- there's nothing like moving to a new country to

Bridgerton: The Duke and I by Julia Quinn Book Review

Image
Hi guys! Today I will be sharing with you my review for The Duke and I by Julia Quinn. Now. Let's be honest. I didn't go into reading this book thinking that it would be the best thing in the world and that it would be absolutely beautifully written and perfect. No. I started watching the series right when it came out and stopped after a couple of episodes because I wanted to be able to read the book first. While I'm glad that I chose to read it, my initial suspicions were correct. Not the most beautifully written book in existence or the most groundbreaking, but it was a very fun and easy read. The internal struggle within Simon with his love for Daphne and hate for his father was excellent. And I did love the family dynamic specifically between the brothers and Daphne, it was a lot of fun. The only thing that I can say I didn't particularly enjoy was the "insta-love" between Daphne and Simon. It felt that automatically when they began fake courting that she

House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas (Crescent City Book 1)

Image
Hello everybody, Today I will be reviewing my just recently finished book, House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas.  Please note that this review will contain spoilers so if you intend on reading the book you can skip to my rating at the bottom. So I got this book as a gift from my boyfriend for my birthday last year and a whopping 10 months later I finally got to it. Not having told me this before, he was worried that I wouldn't like the book because my mom had suggested it based on the author and looked up some reviews but from what she saw she didn't know how great it would be. How ever were they wrong. This was the best book I have read in a long time. It was a rollercoaster from start to finish and I must have known that it would make me cry by the fact that my initial favorite characters in the book were killed off in 60 pages. But alas, even with the tears, this was still a truly amazing book.  The way that Maas creates her characters enables the readers to fall in lov

A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas

Image
Hey guys!  Today I will be sharing my review for the novella, A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas. Peak the picture I took while reading outside in a field in my town  First of all, I feel wholly unqualified to give this a fair review because I started reading this a really, really, really long time ago, like in winter. But with that being said, when I started reading it, I only read like twenty pages of it and then essentially stopped the entire time I was in school. Then surprisingly, the most time that I had to read was finals week. The time that I am meant to be the most stressed out all semester and staying up all night studying, I actually had the most time all semester to read. Then today, with my allergies blaring, my boyfriend and I sat out in a field and read and we read until I finished the book. First off, I definitely read this in the wrong month but it didn't make me like it any less. Essentially, this novella takes place during the time of Solstice in the

Five Dark Fates by Kendare Blake SPOILERS

Image
Hi guys, Today I will be reviewing Five Dark Fates by Kendare Blake, the final book to the Three Dark Crowns series. I will warn you guys that not only did I write this review last night very late and I do not remember everything that I said but it also contains spoilers for the book. So if you have yet to read it and want to, you can skip over this review but come right back and read it after you read it because it is worth it. Also feel free to skip right to the PS at the bottom because that is where I give it my rating and if that is all you're after then send it. It took me so long to get through this book with having a crazy school load that i don't even remember the beginning of it. Or the middle for that matter. So most of this is going to be about the end and I'm writing this late so i want to make it short and sweet. This book was a completely satisfying ending to an amazing series. I don't think it was my favorite of the four, that has to go to the first one

New Adult Books I Want to Read

Image
Hi guys, I know I haven't posted in a while and I definitely wanted to put something out there! Typically I talk about and read Young Adult books, but today I want to talk about some New Adult books. Ever since the whole thing with A Court of Thorns and Roses went down where they were rebranded as New Adult books because let's face it, those books are not meant for young adults, I have been thinking more about reading New Adult books. I feel like there are so few books that are technically New Adult out there that I know about and I want to expand. So I'm gonna show you guys some New Adult books that I found on Goodreads that either have been recently released or are going to be released soon.  Let's get started with it... 1. A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas So I decided to do the most obvious one first. Quite obviously I am going to be reading this and I'm going to hopefully be buying it soon. I honestly don't remember a ton from the last book so Im g

A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir Review

Image
Hello everybody!  Today I am happy to say that I will be reviewing A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir. I wanted to finish this book before my classes started up for Spring semester and I am happy to say that I did! Today is the first day of classes and I finished it last night at 11 PM.  There will be a spoiler section and a non-spoiler section! THIS IS THE NON SPOILER SECTION It took me a bit longer to read it than I wanted to and that was partly because of the craziness of moving back into school and classes starting and leaving home, but the other part of it was the fact that I read the first two books in this series years ago and I did not remember much about it. I could only remember vague details but not all of the overarching story. I did look up summaries so that helped and in the end I still enjoyed the book. In the beginning, I felt like there wasn't much happening, but really what it was was that Tahir was setting us up for the rest of the story and it needed to be th

My Reading Goals for 2021

Image
Hey guys, Today I will be sharing with you my reading goals for 2021. I have seen so many people going through their 2021 reading goals and I really wanted to participate. Comment down below whatever reading goal you have for 2021, I wanna know! Reading Goal #1 This is my first and biggest reading goal for 2021 and that is to read all of the books that I have in my possession right now thus bringing my TBR pile to 0. Now, with that being said, I will still be purchasing books but as of the books that I have right now, my goal is to read all of those.  I actually went through my bookshelves and collections to see how many books I haven't read that I have and I am sure that I missed some that are strewn around my house but I counted 16 which is not that bad and I really think that I can do it. Reading Goal #2 Make reading a priority while I am at school. I tend to get really caught up with everything happening in college and my classes will get difficult so I can never read as much

Most Anticipated YA Releases of 2021 (Part One)

Image
Hi guys, Today I will be sharing with you the most anticipated YA book releases for this new year. I will mention that these books are not necessarily the ones that I am most anticipating, however, they are ones that I have heard so much buzz about and there are many loyal readers to their authors.  So let's get into this list... Happily Ever Afters by Elise Bryant  Release Date: January 5th Summary: From what I have read from the synopsis, this book is essentially about a 16 year old girl who loves to read and write romance stories. She gets accepted to a prestigious creative writing program at an art school but finds that her mind has gone blank with ideas. This means that, with the help of her best friend, she must bring the ideas from the romance novels she loves and bring them into her real life in order to spark some ideas.  My Opinion: This sounds like such a captivating story and such a unique idea! This seems like the perfect read for me and I am so glad that it is alread

Wiccan Romances: Amelia's Story by Nicola Hebron Review

Image
Hi guys, Today I will be sharing with you a review for Wiccan Romances: Amelia's Story by Nicola Hebron. I honestly did not know very much about this book but I was contacted by the author and the story line intrigued me and I am glad that I got to read it. The first thing that I want to say is that this idea hit me right in the feels because when I was a kid, one of my favorite shows ever was Wizards of Waverley Place and this had such a similar vibe to it. Of course they aren't exactly the same but just the idea made me happy. I loved the idea with the kids being quadruplets each possessing a different elemental power, I feel like you don't see quadruplets very much in YA and I thought that the idea of each controlling an element was interesting. I loved how we got to see a lot of their real lives outside of learning magic and it wasn't just about that but it was about their lives outside of home as well. I think that Amelia proves to be a positive role model for you

Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett Review

Image
Hi guys, I am really excited to be sharing with you my newest book review for Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett! I got this book at an amazon bookstore down in Austin Texas over a year and a half ago. I hadn't heard anything about it, or much about Jenn Bennett at all, but I will never be more grateful for finding this book on the shelves. It's been sitting in my unread stack of books for a long time and I just didn't pick it up. Now I think to myself how foolish i was not to. I feel like a lot of the time, books will start off slow and I will say something like “I don't know if I'm gonna like this", or “I hope this picks up and becomes more interesting to me”. But that was not the case with this book. Every single page of this book had my heart. In the very beginning I looked up at my boyfriend and I know that I got that smile on my face like I always do when I fall in love with a book. Because this was spectacular from start to finish. The plot was consta
