Most Anticipated YA Releases of 2021 (Part One)

 Hi guys,

Today I will be sharing with you the most anticipated YA book releases for this new year. I will mention that these books are not necessarily the ones that I am most anticipating, however, they are ones that I have heard so much buzz about and there are many loyal readers to their authors.

So let's get into this list...

Happily Ever Afters by Elise Bryant

Release Date: January 5th

Summary: From what I have read from the synopsis, this book is essentially about a 16 year old girl who loves to read and write romance stories. She gets accepted to a prestigious creative writing program at an art school but finds that her mind has gone blank with ideas. This means that, with the help of her best friend, she must bring the ideas from the romance novels she loves and bring them into her real life in order to spark some ideas.
My Opinion: This sounds like such a captivating story and such a unique idea! This seems like the perfect read for me and I am so glad that it is already out so I can get my hands on it as soon as possible!

Infinity Reaper by Adam Silvera

January 5th

Summary: As this is a sequel I won't put a summary in here. Feel free to look at the Goodreads page if you have read the first one and are interested :)
My Opinion: I know so many people that love Adam Silvera's books but I don't believe that I have actually read any of them. He is extremely well know for his LGBTQ+ contemporary romance stories, however the Infinity Cycle series seems like something completely different.
Lore by Alexandra Bracken

January 5th

Summary: Essentially this book is when nine Greek gods are punished for past betrayals and forced to walk Earth as mortals only to be hunted by descendants of an ancient bloodline that wish to gain their powers. I believe it takes place in New York City which is also very cool.
My Opinion: This seems very Percy Jackson-esque however I never really got into those books (I know I know how could I not?!). However this is Alexandra Bracken, the author of one of my favorite book series of all time, The Darkest Minds. I have heard so much buzz surrounding this book that I might just need to pick it up.

A Vow so Bold and Deadly by Brigid Kemmerer

January 19th

Summary: Again, this is part of a series and is actually the third installment for the Cursebreakers series so I will not be posting a summary because of spoilers but feel free to check out the Goodreads page if you wish :).
My Opinion: I honestly don't have a huge opinion on this book just because I have not heard much else about the author than this series but when the first book was release I was very interested in it, I just have yet to pick it up. Maybe this year is the year!
Last Night at Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo

January 19th

Summary: Set in the 50's in San Fransisco's Chinatown. I feel like that's all you need to know. There is so much buzz surrounding this book and I totally understand why. It's during the Red-Scare and it is a lesbian love-story which I typically don't gravitate towards all the time because I'm straight and sometimes I really love connecting my romance with the romance in books and that's harder with two females but I love the idea of this book and I do love the inclusion of LGBTQ+ and I believe there should be more books with it mainstreamed in and I think this is just perfect. I mean the Telegraph Club is literally a lesbian bar in the 50's, if that isn't interesting to you then I don't know what is.
My Opinion: Oh yeah I wanna pick this one up.
Everything that Burns by Gita Trelease

February 2nd

Summary: SEQUEL ALERT. Check out the Goodreads page if you are interested :)
My Opinion: Honestly this is a little confusing because I am not in-the-know but there are two different titles for these books. You may hear the first one called All That Glitters or Enchantée and you might hear this one as Everything That Burns or Liberté. Their original titles were the ones that were listed second and the first ones are the changed/new titles I guess. I don't think I've heard of titles changing mid-series before so that is very interesting for me.

Chain of Iron by Cassandra Clare

March 2nd

Summary: SECOND IN A SERIES ALERT! You all know what this is the second book to.
My Opinion: If I am being completely honest, I fell too behind on the Cassandra Clare train way too long ago and I have never gone back because of the sheer number of books I still want to read. But I do want to say that this new series by Cassandra Clare is one of people's favorites of her books which is saying a lot because she has a TON of books. That interests me but I don't think I will ever get to it because I haven't read the other ones :(
Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley

March 16th

Summary: This is about an 18 year old girl who is Native and mixed race. She doesn't feel like she belongs in either place, her hometown or the reservation and she is captivated by a boy who joins her brother's hockey team. But things don't seem right and she must "root out the corruption
in her community"
My Opinions: Wow this cover. Beautiful. This story idea. Amazing. This is such an original idea and you don't get to read much in YA about Native American communities but this seems like such an amazing idea and its supposed to be a thriller. I definitely want to pick this one up in the new year because it sounds so intriguing!
A Queen of Gilded Horns by Amanda Joy

March 16th

Summary: This is the second and last in a duology so I will not be summarizing it but here is the Goodreads page if you feel so inclined.
My Opinions: Honestly, I haven't heard too much about these books. I know that the first book is essentially a sort of sibling rivalry story but I am not sure much else that happens. I know some people who are in love with the first book and then some people who were just "meh" so I thought it deserved to be on the list.
Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo

March 30th

Summary: I would be surprised if you guys weren't aware of Leigh Bardugo and her many novels that people adore but if you are not, this is the second in a duology so I will not be sharing the summary. If you would like to see the Goodreads page you can click through ;)
My Opinions: I am an absolute sucker for amazing cover designs and oh my goodness does this hit all the marks! I have heard so many amazing things about the first book in this series so I am sure this is going to be just as good, if not better.
The Box in the Woods by Maureen Johnson

April 27th

Summary: Another sequel, this one being the fourth in the series. You can check out all four books in the Truly Devious series on Goodreads with their summaries HERE
My Opinion: I have heard so many good things about this series and I know a lot of people love them. They are mystery books and that is so intriguing and when I am in the mood for mystery I will definitely be picking up these books.

That is all for today! I put so much effort into this post so I would love it if you guys left a comment on here and let me know which ones you are excited for or any that I didn't list or if you just wanna say hi!

Thank you for reading,

Delaney MacDonald
