Young Adult Books Released in Fall 2017

Hi guys,

I know I have not posted anything really of substance in a while because school has just been so tiring and busy and crew has been so much, so today is my only free day to do anything for this blog.

So without further ado, these are 10 books that came/come out this fall that I have heard a lot about. These books aren't in any real particular order, most of them are in the order of which they came out, but a few are a little out of place so...

1. Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart
So for the majority of these books, I am going to put the synopsis and talk about how much I wanna read it and shit like that, but I think that when it comes to E. Lockhart books, it is best to go in blind. I really don't think that I'm going to actually end up reading this book (I know, I know, but please put down your pitchforks!) But I have heard some good things about this book so far so if you were a fan of E. Lockhart's We Were Liars, then definitely pick up this next book of hers.

2. Warcross by Marie Lu
I am very excited about reading this book, I absolutely love Marie Lu's books and this seems like such a cool idea for a book, it is giving me some hardcore Ready Player One vibes, which is actually one of my actually favorite books.
Synopsis:
For the millions who log in every day, Warcross isn’t just a game—it’s a way of life. The obsession started ten years ago and its fan base now spans the globe, some eager to escape from reality and others hoping to make a profit. Struggling to make ends meet, teenage hacker Emika Chen works as a bounty hunter, tracking down players who bet on the game illegally. But the bounty hunting world is a competitive one, and survival has not been easy. Needing to make some quick cash, Emika takes a risk and hacks into the opening game of the international Warcross Championships—only to accidentally glitch herself into the action and become an overnight sensation.

Convinced she’s going to be arrested, Emika is shocked when instead she gets a call from the game’s creator, the elusive young billionaire Hideo Tanaka, with an irresistible offer. He needs a spy on the inside of this year’s tournament in order to uncover a security problem . . . and he wants Emika for the job. With no time to lose, Emika’s whisked off to Tokyo and thrust into a world of fame and fortune that she’s only dreamed of. But soon her investigation uncovers a sinister plot, with major consequences for the entire Warcross empire.

4. The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo, Illustrated by Sara Kipin
I have heard so much hype surrounding this book, Leigh Bardugo is such a well-loved author and I hope that everybody enjoys it as much as they thought it would.
Synopsis:
Love speaks in flowers. Truth requires thorns.

Inspired by myth, fairy tale, and folklore, #1 New York Times–bestselling author Leigh Bardugo has crafted a deliciously atmospheric collection of short stories filled with betrayals, revenge, sacrifice, and love.

Perfect for new readers and dedicated fans, these tales will transport you to lands both familiar and strange—to a fully realized world of dangerous magic that millions have visited through the novels of the Grishaverse.

5. A Short History of the Girl Next Door by Jared Reck
I have heard so many great things about this book and I definitely want to pick this up because it is a debut contemporary novel and it just seems like such a sweet story that I will definitely enjoy.
Synopsis:
The unrequited love of the girl next door is the centerpiece of this fiercely funny, yet heart-breaking debut novel.

Fifteen-year-old Matt Wainwright is in turmoil. He can’t tell his lifelong best friend, Tabby, how he really feels about her; his promising basketball skills are being overshadowed by his attitude on the court, and the only place he feels normal is in English class, where he can express his inner thoughts in quirky poems and essays. Matt is desperately hoping that Tabby will reciprocate his feelings; but then Tabby starts dating Liam Branson, senior basketball star and all-around great guy. Losing Tabby to Branson is bad enough; but, as Matt soon discovers, he’s close to losing everything that matters most to him.

6. Turtles All the Way Down by John Green

So together, they navigate the short distance and broad divides that separate them from Russell Pickett’s son, Davis.

7. All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater
This is yet again, another release from a well-loved author and surprisingly I have never read one of her books, I believe, which is very surprising. There has been some hype surrounding this book and it seems like many of you guys will enjoy. If I will read this, I don't know!

8. Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao
I'm going to be completely honest with you guys, I actually had not heard of this book before looking into this for this post. But it turns out, it is actually pretty hyped up, people are excited for this book! I believe that this is Dao's debut novel and that is very exciting. On my computer, the cover doesn't really look that appetizing, so maybe I better go to a bookstore and check it out in person ;).
Synopsis:
An East Asian fantasy reimagining of The Evil Queen legend about one peasant girl's quest to become Empress--and the darkness she must unleash to achieve her destiny.

Eighteen-year-old Xifeng is beautiful. The stars say she is destined for greatness, that she is meant to be Empress of Feng Lu. But only if she embraces the darkness within her. Growing up as a peasant in a forgotten village on the edge of the map, Xifeng longs to fulfill the destiny promised to her by her cruel aunt, the witch Guma, who has read the cards and seen glimmers of Xifeng's majestic future. 9. The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli
First of all, I'd like to say that I absolutely love this cover and it gives me An Ember in the Ashes vibes. I definitely want to pick this book up, most of that "want" because of the cover and the name totally intrigues me.
Synopsis:
In the beginning, there was the Namsara: the child of sky and spirit, who carried love and laughter wherever he went. But where there is light, there must be darkness—and so there was also the Iskari. The child of blood and moonlight. The destroyer. The death-bringer.

These are the legends that Asha, daughter of the king of Firgaard, has grown up learning in hushed whispers, drawn to the forbidden figures of the past. But it isn’t until she becomes the fiercest, most feared dragon slayer in the land that she takes on the role of the next Iskari—a lonely destiny that leaves her feeling more like a weapon than a girl.

Asha conquers each dragon and brings its head to the king, but no kill can free her from the shackles that await at home: her betrothal to the cruel commandant, a man who holds the truth about her nature in his palm. When she’s offered the chance to gain her freedom in exchange for the life of the most powerful dragon in Firgaard, she finds that there may be more truth to the ancient stories than she ever could have expected. With the help of a secret friend—a slave boy from her betrothed’s household—Asha must shed the layers of her Iskari bondage and open her heart to love, light, and a truth that has been kept from her.

10. The Glass Spare by Lauren DeStefano
The cover of this book looks really cool, but I don't really like the idea of this book. It feels very cliche, and done before. A girl, who when she touches people, they turn into a gem. Sounds like another version of Shatter Me. Although I personally don't really like the idea, there has been a lot of hype surrounding this book. I know that I've seen at least 4 booktubers talk about this book, as well as multiple fellow book bloggers.
Synopsis:
A banished princess.
A deadly curse.
A kingdom at war.

Wil Heidle, the only daughter of the king of the world’s wealthiest nation, has grown up in the shadows. Kept hidden from the world in order to serve as a spy for her father—whose obsession with building his empire is causing a war—Wil wants nothing more than to explore the world beyond her kingdom, if only her father would give her the chance.

Until one night Wil is attacked, and she discovers a dangerous secret. Her touch turns people into gemstone. At first Wil is horrified—but as she tests its limits, she’s drawn more and more to the strange and volatile ability. When it leads to tragedy, Wil is forced to face the destructive power within her and finally leave her home to seek the truth and a cure.

But finding the key to her redemption puts her in the path of a cursed prince who has his own ideas for what to do with her power.

With a world on the brink of war and a power of ultimate destruction, can Wil find a way to help the kingdom that’s turned its back on her, or will she betray her past and her family forever?
