This book was absolutely amazing. From the very beginning, it drew me in. Daniel Handler (or maybe as you know him, Lemony Snicket) wove a beautiful tale that made me fall in love with the characters as well as the old movies that came up time and time again.

First; the characters were amazingly well written and well rounded. The relationships between them were so realistic and I felt a tear in my heart every single time that Min wrote, "that's why we broke up". Handler wrote up their relationship with every part of their relationship then tore it down multiple times with five little words.

Second; Daniel Handler's amazing writing was truly the best part of this novel. Not the characters, not their relationships, not the plot. His beautiful, poetic writing made this book what it is, although every other aspect was amazing as well. I would find myself losing myself in his words, and falling deeper into the book. I found myself reading out passages to whoever was around. Truly amazing.

Third; Maira Kalman's illustrations in this book were amazing. Not only is she world-renowned for her covers of The New Yorker, but she was able to demonstrate completely every object in the box. Her artwork was incredible and completely in tune with the book. (Caution do not flip through the entire book to look at the pretty illustrations because you will be spoiled)

All in all, amazing. Nothing more for me to say but...

Five out of five yellow roses.

Thanks for reading,
Delaney M.
